WHAT IS DYNAROM MOTION EMG?
DynaROM Motion EMG or DynaROM is a technology used to detect the presence or absence of soft tissue injuries. It measures both Range of Motion (ROM) and Muscle Guarding at the same time.
Range of motion is the measurement of the distance and direction in which a joint can be moved. Muscle guarding is the body’s natural defense mechanism in response to pain.

TRADITIONAL ROM VS. DYNAROM MOTION EMG
Traditional ROM only measures how far a patient can bend. This used to be the only way to evaluate soft tissue injuries. However, it doesn't take into account the muscle guarding that occurs while performing these motions. That means your ROM report may say "normal" even though you are in pain.
On the other hand, DynaROM documents pain as it happens. It shows both ROM and muscle guarding. The simultaneous measurement of these two tests increases the sensitivity and specificity of range of motion to pain. This means that a Normal ROM might show a significant muscle guarding which proves the presence of an injury.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A DYNAROM MOTION EMG EXAM?
A
DynaROM is a surface electromyogram. This means that it's non-invasive and painless. Whereas needle EMG is commonly used for nerve injuries, surface EMG is specifically used for soft tissue damages caused by an auto accident or work injuries.
B
During a DynaROM exam, you will be asked to turn off any electronics you may have as they might interfere with the equipment. Electrodes will be attached to specific areas on your neck and back. Sensors are then placed on your body.
C
You will be asked to perform 3 repetitions of various motions to measure flexion, extension, left and right lateral flexion, and left and right rotation. These motions may include bending and twisting within your level of comfort. Two graphs will be shown on a computer monitora and representing both ROM.
D
Although the actual exam will only take about 15 minutes, allow 45-60 minutes for the whole visit. This includes filling in forms and answering questions before and after the exam. You should avoid strenuous activities 24 hours before the exam. It is also advisable to NOT take pain medications or muscle relaxers 12 hours before the test.
BENEFITS OF DYNAROM MOTION EMG
Reduces the Emotional Stress of the Patient
Most patients who don't show physical injuries are suspected of faking their pain. DynaROM helps by providing scientific proof that the pain they feel is real.
Cost-effective
DynaROM cost only about $275. However, it gives you a bigger probability of winning your case. With its accuracy, it also helps in providing the right diagnosis.
Provides Accurate and Reliable Data
The data gathered from DynaROM leads to correct diagnosis and is admissible evidence for your soft tissue injury.
Safe Technology
Since DynaROM is non-invasive, it is painless and safe even for children or pregnant women.
HOW DOES DYNAROM MOTION EMG HELP LAWYERS?
Reliable Medical Evidence
As a personal injury attorney, it can be challenging to prove your client's pain when there's no physical injury to show. The pressure might also increase when independent medical exams (IME), ROM, and MRI all show no abnormalities.
In a courtroom, solid data outweighs the credibility of a medical expert. An IME report only shows what test was performed and the doctor's opinion on your client's condition. However, a DynaROM exam shows ROM and muscle guarding. And when there's muscle guarding, there's pain and injury. The data produced by DynaROM is legally accepted as evidence for soft tissue injuries in court. It is also recognized by the American Medical Association and backed by more than 8,000 published research studies. The report is also presented in colored graphics which makes it easy for anyone in the jury to understand.
